Water Infiltration


The Uniform Building Code adopted in some form by every California local municipality, requires that residential structures be watertight.  Leaking roofs, walls, windows, and doors are often the most obvious signs of building problems.  There are often many leak sources to be considered:

Sources of interior water damage

Common locations of water damage

Improperly flasked windows are often a case of water infiltration.

Flashing over windows

Flashing below windows

Improperly installed exterior flashing and finishing may also cause leakage and decay.
